Our Story

Torissong started with a simple mission: to bring the best of Japanese yakitori and modern cuisine to Melbourne’s Carlton neighborhood. Inspired by classic Japanese grilling methods and fresh, quality ingredients, the team behind Torissong wanted to create a space where food lovers could enjoy expertly prepared dishes in a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Over time, Torissong evolved into more than just a yakitori bar—it’s now a destination for a wide variety of Japanese dishes that appeal to both adventurous eaters and traditionalists alike.

Find Your Flavor, Savor the Moment

The Menu Experience

The menu at Torissong is thoughtfully curated to highlight a range of Japanese specialties with a fresh twist. Yakitori remains the star, with premium Hazeldene chicken skewers grilled to perfection over charcoal. The selection includes tender chicken neck, juicy chicken heart, succulent chicken breast, crispy wings, crunchy cartilage, and flavorful chicken meatballs. Each skewer is expertly seasoned either with sea salt or a house-made tare sauce, allowing diners to savor layers of smoky, umami-rich flavors. For those wanting to sample a variety, the chef’s yakitori set offers an excellent introduction.

Beyond the grill, the sashimi options impress with their freshness and delicate presentation. You can find slices of Hiramasa kingfish, striped tuna, and rich salmon, often paired with ponzu sauce, scallions, and traditional soy for a clean, refreshing taste.

For heartier options, the ramen bowls stand out with clear, refined broths inspired by French culinary finesse. Dishes like the shoyu ramen with slow-roasted pork and the yuzu kosho ramen featuring sous vide chicken breast show the kitchen’s skill in balancing bold and subtle flavors. Alongside ramen, rice bowls such as the chashu don and BBQ ox tongue don provide satisfying, flavor-packed meals.

Even the dessert menu reflects the restaurant’s attention to detail. From homemade matcha ice cream served with crispy Hokkaido milk buns and caramelized peanuts to Earl Grey panna cotta with honeycomb and vanilla biscuits, each sweet treat offers a perfect ending to the meal.
